A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI‘I
FOR THE 2025 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION IN EAST HAWAIʻI.
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to help youth to make safe and responsible decisions to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, violence, and other
risky situations that could impact their health and safety; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i is conducting an East Hawai‘i D.A.R.E. Day Celebration to commemorate the graduation of students from various schools in East Hawai‘i who have completed the
10-week Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) curriculum; and
WHEREAS, the East Hawaiʻi D.A.R.E. Day Celebration will be held at the Charles “Sparky” Kawamoto Swim Stadium on May 20, 2025; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i has requested funds for food and refreshments, inflatable waterslides, and items for activities, games, and contests for the 2025 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration in
East Hawaiʻi; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support organizations, such as D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i, that promote alcohol-free and drug-free programs and events that
teach youth to make safe and responsible choices; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i for the 2025 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration in East Hawaiʻi.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
