A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PUNA RISING
ʻOHANA FOR ITS PUNA STORYWORKS PROJECT.
WHEREAS, Puna Rising ʻOhana is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect, inform, and inspire the people of Puna to work together collaboratively, to identify markets
for their goods and services, to explore new opportunities, and to build a stronger and robust community ethos; and
WHEREAS, the Puna StoryWorks Project offers free, multi-level business acumen trainings online and networking to equip small businesses and strengthen the local economy, while honoring
the entrepreneurial spirit and character of Puna and Hawai‘i Island; and
WHEREAS, Puna Rising ‘Ohana is requesting funds for a website subscription to consolidate all training content, contracted services for project management and delivery, software licenses,
newsletter management, and rental of video and sound equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports the development of a local economy that is diverse, stable, and in balance with Hawaiʻi’s ecology, community character, and
cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to the Puna Rising ‘Ohana for its Puna StoryWorks Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
