Dear Members of the Hawaii County Council,
I am writing in support of Resolution 125 20, and in particular of the importance of the Nani Kai Hoku
Farm agricultural easement. In addition to preserving important ag lands with prime soils, the
easement will ensure that important ecological functions are maintained on the farm, such as
windbreaks and trees that serve as roosting sites for Io, Pueo, and the Hawaiian hoary bat. The
easement also requires continuous food production to further Hawaii's food security goals. Our
President, Kaipo Kekona, is copied and in support of preserving this land as well.
