RESOLUTION NO. 1i 3 25
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HALE MUA
CULTURAL GROUP TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE KING
KAMEHAMEHA DAY CELEBRATION PARADE AND HO`OLAULE`A IN KAILUA-
KONA.
WHEREAS,the Hale Mua Cultural Group is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that is
dedicated to preserving and perpetuating native Hawaiian culture and collaborates with groups
that stabilize,restore, and maintain historical sites and offer educational programs; and
WHEREAS, as part of the Parade Committee, Hale Mua Cultural Group is helping to
coordinate the King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade and the ho`olaule`a, which will take
place at the Hulihee Palace following the parade on June 7,2025, in historic Kailua Village; and
WHEREAS,the ho`olaule`a will feature cultural and educational events for the
community including lei displays, live music,hula, crafts, food vendors,palace tours, and
demonstrations of other cultural practices; and
WHEREAS,the Hale Mua Cultural Group is requesting funds to assist with expenses
for a sound system and security for traffic control and public safety for the King Kamehameha
Day Celebration Parade and ho`olaule`a; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that provide
educational activities and community events in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment, such as
the King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade and ho`olaule`a; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Hale Mua Cultural Group to assist with expenses
relating to the King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade and ho`olaule`a in Kailua-Kona.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
