A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO EQUALITY HI TO SUPPORT
THE 13th ANNUAL PRIDE PARADE AND FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, Equality HI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to proactively engage in creating an inclusive and diverse queer community through aloha, leadership, resources,
services, and education; and
WHEREAS, Equality HI is providing fiscal sponsorship to Hawai‘i Island LGBTQ Pride’s 13th Annual Pride Parade and Festival, which brings members of the LGBTQ community together to affirm
their fundamental rights and place in Hawai‘i County; and
WHEREAS, the 13th Annual Pride Parade and Festival will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Moʻoheau Park bandstand; and
WHEREAS, Equality HI is requesting funds to cover expenses for sound equipment rental fees, volunteer materials, keiki area and activities, security, and porta-potty rentals for the
13th Annual Pride Parade and Festival; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that promote family-friendly events and activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Equality HI to support the 13th Annual Pride Parade and Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
