A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOMELESS TASK FORCE
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS HOMELESS OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT PROJECT.
WHEREAS, Homeless Task Force (HTF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to decreasing the homeless count in West Hawai‘i by providing individuals with a productive
pathway back into the mainstream society through safe haven options of housing, drug and alcohol rehabilitation referrals, and return home to their families of origin; and
WHEREAS, HTF is requesting funds to assist with expenses for food cards, clothing, hygiene kits, and taxi and ride-share fares to encourage unhoused individuals to move from the homeless
lifestyle and transition into safe haven options to decrease the homeless count, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests of needs of the
poor, youth, the aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities, and victims of health or social crises; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaiʻi County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief
funds from Council District 8 are hereby transferred to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to HTF for the expenses and purposes identified in “Exhibit A,” a copy of
which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:
