REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: May 6, 2025 Re: Comm.No. 232/Bill No. 44 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:00 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 44,reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 44,transmitted by Council Member Holeka Goro Inaba and Council Member James <br /> Hustace via Communication No. 232, dated March 31, 2025, amends Chapter 19, Article 10, <br /> Section 19-89, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), relating to <br /> exemptions for certain Hawaiian Homes property, and other agencies. <br /> This bill exempts the value of buildings on Hawaiian Home Lands homesteads from property taxes <br /> and repeals references to outdated State law. <br /> Committee Members Holeka Goro Inaba and James Hustace provided background on this measure. Both <br /> spoke in support of it.
