RE: Testimony in Support of Communication No. 227
Nomination of David F. Bruno to the County of Hawai'i Board of Ethics
Aloha Chair Inaba, Vice Chair Onishi and Full Council:
I am again asking your favorable vote to approve the nomination of David F. Bruno to
the Hawai'i County Board of Ethics.
While I casually knew his father when he headed up Lyman Museum, I have only known
David for about two years—since he and his wife moved back to Hawai'i and Waikoloa
Village. In this time I have found him a welcome addition to the North Hawai'i
community because he regularly participates in community meetings and is a thoughtful
contributor.
I have found him to come prepared, be a good listener and quick study, and realize now
this may be due at least in part to his training as a lawyer (though not a member of the
Hawai'i bar), and diverse work experience in hospitality, human resources,
communications, technology and systems management. These all seem relevant to
serving on the County Board of Ethics.
This board is now more critical than ever to helping build/maintain trust in the work of
our county personnel and agencies at a time in Hawai'i and America when trust and rule
of law are being seriously threatened and when moving forward is so very complicated.
Thank you for your consideration and mahalo for your service to the people of Hawai'i
County.
