RE: Testimony in Support of Bill 44/Com. 232
Amends Chapter 19, Article 10, Section 19-89, of the Hawai'i County Code
1983 (2016 Edition, As Amended), Relating to Exemptions for Certain
Hawaiian Homes Property, and Other Agencies
Aloha Chair Kaneali'i-Kleinfelder, Vice Chair Hustace and Finance Committee Members
I will keep this brief but strongly support Hawai'i County adopting PARITY in
determining real property taxes for our Hawaiian Homestead community on federal trust
lands islandwide. By parity, I mean replicating what is already standard practice for the
other counties of Hawai'i.
The justification and rationale for parity have been examined extensively such that
further discussion is not warranted at this time.
Thank you for your consideration and mahalo for your service to the people of Hawai'i
County.
