Aloha Esteemed County of Hawaii Council Members,
On behalf of La`i`opua 2020, a beneficiary-serving community development organization located in
the heart of the Kealakehe Hawaiian homestead, we express our strong support for Bill No. 44.
This bill affirms the intent of the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act and helps ensure that Native
Hawaiian homesteaders are treated equitably in local property tax policies. As an organization that
walks alongside homesteaders every day—supporting `ohana, kupuna, and keiki we understand
firsthand how important it is to reduce financial barriers and uplift the long-term stability of our
