CD Sent: Friday, May 2, 2025 2:40 PM ff To: Council Testimony Subject: Oppose Bill 47 --0, = Dear Council Members, I'm writing to express my strong opposition to Bill 47. As a concerned citizen and short-term vacation rental (STVR) owner, I'm frustrated by the lack of data-driven decision-making and the repetitive attempts to regulate our industry. The proponents of this bill, Heather Kimball and Ashley Kierkiewicz, have previously proposed legislation without providing economic studies or facts to support their claims. Their lack of credibility and persistence in pushing for regulations that could harm our community raises concerns about their motivations. As a taxpayer, I expect to be treated with respect and dignity. Instead, I feel like I'm constantly fighting against new regulations and taxes. I'm not alone— many small business owners like me are feeling the same way. I urge you to use existing laws to regulate non-compliant STVRs and focus on enforcing current regulations rather than creating new ones. I request that you investigate any council members who may be incentivized by the passage of legislation that affects our industry. It's essential to ensure that decision-makers are acting in the best interest of our community, not their own personal gain. If this trend continues, I fear that my family and I may be forced to leave the state, joining many others who have already been driven away by excessive regulations. I hope you'll consider the impact of your decisions on our community and work to create a more supportive environment for small business owners like me.
