To the Hawaii County Policy Committee on Planning, Land Use & Economic Development,
Bill 47 is a positive step toward ensuring all hosted short-term rental operators are registered and pay
GET and TAT taxes. For small farms that depend on short-term rentals, it's essential that the final bill
allows unpermitted improvements that meet health and safety standards and permits hosted rentals
in agricultural zones. I will only support Bill 47 if these two protections remain, as they are vital to the
livelihood of small farms relying on short-term rental income.
