It has also been rewarding in so many ways, not to mention I feel I am contributing to my community. I find it very troubling that we are being asked to register for yet to be determined rules. I have not seen any data to show why any of this is necessary. It feels like a burden to say the least. I feel that it would be wise to wait until midyear when the results of the survey are expected concerning the economic impact of this. As far as the issue of long-term housing goes, I feel the state could do so much more to make it easier for developers to build lower income housing. There are 5 homes close to me that stopped being vacation rentals after Bill 108 and not ONE of them became a long-term rental,affordable or not. I think this situation needed to be looked at then and certainly now. Talking about$10,000 fines and liens on people's homes feels hostile to me and uncalled for. I feel vacation rentals are essential at this time and have a very noncompetitive place in the tourism industry. Not one of my guests would stay in a resort or condo, for their own reasons. There are people that thrive there and there are visitors that want what I am offering. There is a path to regulation, but it does not need to be so hostile and convoluted.
