After reading this proposed bill I have some serious concerns it is biased and unfairly will cost senior owners who must
rent out their condo while they are not there.
I am a senior on fixed income and have loved using my condo every year for 25 years. In 25 years I have never had a
positive income year.
During that time I have had to change from my own website to 3rd party middleman websites in order to get bookings.
Now I've seen a decrease in bookings due to the quantity of units hosted by Airbnb and vrbo that are from property
managers with higher priority. I have thought about going back to my own website but this new legislation will stop that
from happening due to$1000 cost when I'm already negative. Property management is out of range with most taking
30%fees increasing my negative that I can't afford. I've conformed to registering, paying for on island representative
monthly,and have tax numbers that I send tax in regularly. In addition I've seen HOA dues increase by$1000 per month,
lease hold fees increase by$300 per month, property taxes increase by$200 per month. Despite paying off the mortgage
on a$140,000 condo I have a large negative every year and can only use it for a month myself due to ever increasing
costs.
I would like to see changes that consider longtime Hawaii owners that are seniors on fixed income and want to continue
yearly trips to Hawaii not forced out.This legislation increases fees$250 per year, $1000 per year if an owner wants their
own website, plus way too many requirements for reporting for a senior single owner who can't afford paying a 3rd party
to do. Reporting GET,TAT,county TAT and conforming to rules already in place for the old registration are enough, I,don't
need more.There needs to be exceptions and consideration for senior TVR owners that are already conforming and have
large negative costs.
