Subject: Proposed changes to county code regarding short term rentals.
My wife and I purchased a small condo unit in the Kona Islander Inn about ten years ago after selling our home in Puna.
Due to a move to the mainland,we decided to rent our condo via Airbnb,to achieve a small income to help with our
retirement,as I am now in my eighty-second year.
Costs have skyrocketed since that time in every sector of the ownership/rental business. In some cases,in excess of a
100%increase.
Visitor rates are declining. TOT, property taxes, maintenance fees, management fees,cleaning fees,and virtually
everything else are all increasing much faster than than all compensating factors.
Please do not further complicate matters by making it even more difficult to enjoy and own property on the beautiful Big
Island.
