The Board and members of the Hawaii Island Bed & Breakfast Assocraiion (I-1186A i
would like to extend our deepest thanks to Councilman Curtis Tyler for his gUida+~cz and
help in the creation of amended County Zoning Codes for Bed R Breakfasrs on T h~ Big
Island of Hawaii. We also wish to thank Council Member Nancy Pisicchio for her~nput
and support as well as the time spent by each of the Council Members, P!ann ~ ng
Commission and Planning Department, and County departments in revier^~ of this
important Bill.
HIBBA's desire is to have all of its members, as well as those who w~ sh to for n the
association, permitted, and running quality approved Bed & Breakfast establ ~ shmer ds
This has been the impetus for working on these very important codes. As we look to the
future growth and potential of otu industry in Hawaii, we also look at the impotence of
working within a system that supports us.

Will you please provide this to The Committee on Planning, of the Coun ~y Council 'ar their
Meeting on Tuesday, October 17th, 2000, at 1:30p.m.
We hope to have some representative from our association present at the hear) .g, however
many innkeepers from the Kona side of the island are very busy with pest IronMan bookings
making it difficult at best to make the drive to Hilo in tirne for the meeting,
In lieu of our presence we submit this letter in order to state our position of support for the
new proposed ordinance amending Chapter 25 of the Hawaii County Code 1983. (1995 Editionl.
relating to Bed 61 Breakfast establishments.
