A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT GROUP FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE BIG ISLAND DANCE COUNCIL’S 50th ANNIVERSARY SHOWCASE.
WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports individuals and groups that provide programs, activities, events, projects, and
educational workshops that benefit the public, free of charge; and
WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group and Big Island Dance Council (BIDC) are cohosting the BIDC 50th Anniversary Showcase, which will feature various events such as:
Hip-hop Jam and Skate Jam on July 19, 2025, at Kurtistown Park; and
“4 the Love” hip-hop series on July 25, 2025, at Herbert Shipman Park (Kea‘au Armory); July 26, 2025, at Wailoa River State Recreation Area (pavilion); and July 27, 2025, at Mokuʻola
Island; and
WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group is requesting funds to secure expenses in this fiscal year for sound equipment, banners, flyers, event insurance, and honorariums
for the anniversary events that will take place in the following fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide drug-free and alcohol-free events for the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Grassroots Community Development Group for expenses relating to the Big Island Dance Council’s 50th Anniversary Showcase.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
