A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NORTH KOHALA
COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE KOHALA COMMUNITY REUNION.
WHEREAS, established in 2000, the Kohala Community Reunion has been an opportunity for community members to gather in camaraderie, share stories about the rich history of the region,
participate in activities, engage in self-guided tours, and learn from presentations, including by County representatives on government initiatives; and
WHEREAS, an important component of the Kohala Community Reunion is the valuable data collection conducted during the event, which includes surveys on demographic information, housing,
health, and wellness; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is working in partnership with the planners of the Kohala Community Reunion to organize the zero-waste
event to be held on July 4 – July 6, 2025, with an estimated attendance of 2,000 current and former residents; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center is requesting funding assistance to help secure a sound system, chairs, and tents for the Community Reunion; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this project as it is in keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support public programs that provide Hawai‘i County
residents with activities in a safe, drug- and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the North Kohala Community Resource Center to assist with expenses related to the Kohala Community Reunion.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
