A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NORTH KOHALA
COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE KOHALA RIDE WILD CLUB IN NORTH KOHALA.
WHEREAS, for a decade, the Kohala Ride Wild Club has provided the local youth of North Kohala with safe and fun opportunities to work with horses and cattle, many of which are formerly
neglected or rescue animals; and
WHEREAS, the Kohala Ride Wild Club perpetuates the proud paniolo heritage of Kohala, teaches proper horsemanship and rodeo skills to children of all ages, and works to keep at-risk youth
engaged in productive behaviors and positive experiences; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is working in partnership with the organizers of the Kohala Ride Wild Club to continue serving
the youth of North Kohala through its free weekly program; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center is requesting funding assistance to help purchase necessary insurance, animal feed, and veterinary costs for the operations of the
Kohala Ride Wild Club; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this project as it is in keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support public programs that provide Hawai‘i County
residents, especially young people, with fun activities in a safe, drug- and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the North Kohala Community Resource Center to assist with expenses related to the Kohala Ride Wild Club in North Kohala.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
