RE: Proposed Amendment to Bill No. 39,Draft 2; An Ordinance Amending Chapter
19,Article 1, Section 19-2, and Article 7, Section 19-53, of the Hawai`i County
Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as Amended), Relating to the Affordable Rental
Housing Real Property Tax Classification.
Transmitted herewith is a proposed amendment to Bill No. 39, Draft 2. The proposed
amendment is shown below in Ramseyer format with respect to the content of Bill No. 39, Draft
2; material to be deleted is bracketed and stricken, and material to be added is underscored.
SECTION 2 of Bill No. 39, Draft 2, which amends chapter 19, article 1, section 19-2, of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended)by amending the definition of
"affordable rental rate", is amended to read as follows:
""Affordable rental rate"means a monthly rent not to exceed [the most recent
affordable rental guidelines for eighty percent of the area median income of the County
as established by the Hawai`i housing finance and development corporation.] the rate
schedule as established by administrative rule of the office of housing and community
development."
A copy of the new draft of this bill that would result if this proposed amendment were adopted is
intentionally omitted, due to the limited scope of the amendment.
