Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year, for one
asphalt paver for the Department of Public Works. The monthly cost will be approximately
$9,374.03. The equipment will be used island wide by the Department of Public Works
Highways Division for construction,resurfacing and maintenance projects.

A. REQUEST:
The Department of Public Works Highways Division is requesting a resolution authorizing the payment of
funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal year for a multi-year lease of one (1) asphalt paver for
all Highways districts. The lease to purchase would be for a period of no more than five (5) years.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The asphalt paver will be used islandwide to assist DPW Highways personnel with construction, resurfacing,
and maintenance projects. Currently, DPW Highways has two (2) asphalt pavers that are shared with all
districts. These asphalt pavers are over twenty years old and with the many projects islandwide an
additional asphalt paver will increase productivity and operations throughout the island especially with
equipment breaks down.
This lease is for a period of no more than five (5) years. The purchase price is $562,441.86. The estimated
lease cost is approximately$9,374.03 per month or$112,488.36 annually. The County will own the asphalt
paver at the end of the five (5) year lease period.
The lease is funded in the FY2024-25 Highway Fund budget and proposed FY2025-26 budget.
