Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year, for one
10-ton pneumatic roller for the Department of Public Works. The monthly cost will be
approximately$3,198.08. The equipment will be used island wide by the Department of Public
Works Highways Division for construction,resurfacing and maintenance projects.

A. REQUEST:
The Department of Public Works Highways Division is requesting a resolution authorizing the payment of
funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal year for a multi-year lease of one (1) 10-ton pneumatic
roller for the District of Kona. The lease to purchase would be for a period of no more than five (5) years.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The 10-ton pneumatic roller will be used islandwide to assist DPW Highways personnel with construction,
resurfacing, and maintenance projects. Currently, DPW Highways has two(2) 10-ton pneumatice rollers and
with the many projects islandwide an additional 10-ton pneumatic roller will increase productivity and
operations.
This lease is for a period of no more than five(5) years. The purchase price is$191,884.74. The estimated
lease cost is approximately$3,198.08 per month or$38,376.96 annually. The County will own the 10-ton
pneumatic roller at the end of the five (5)year lease period.
The lease is funded in the FY2024-25 Highway Fund budget and proposed FY2025-26 budget.
