HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 140 Draft 02 2024-2026 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AWARD OF FUNDS TO ALOHA ANIMAL ALLIANCE HAWAIʻI BY THE ANIMAL CONTROL AND PROTECTION AGENCY. WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of $25,000 to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in a resolution; and WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136 of the Hawai‘i County Code states, “Nonprofit organization” means an organization that is registered and in good standing in the State of Hawai‘i as a nonprofit organization and maintains a 501(c)(3) charitable designation from the Internal Revenue Service; and WHEREAS, Aloha Animal Alliance Hawai‘i, which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined above, will utilize the funds for their cat spay and neuter initiatives; and WHEREAS, the Animal Control and Protection Agency wishes to provide $50,000 to Aloha Animal Alliance Hawai‘i to pay for project cost items listed in “Exhibit A” attached hereto; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Animal Control and Protection Agency has approval to award $50,000 in grant funds to Aloha Animal Alliance Hawai‘i. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of Management, the Finance Department, and Aloha Animal Alliance Hawai‘i. Surgical Instruments $3,000 Surgical instruments for spay and Neuter of animals.  Field Equipment $12,000 Humane traps, trap covers, PPE, microchip scanners, signage, collapsible shelters, uniforms for colony feeders.  Anesthesia Machine $6,500 Field-compatible anesthesia machine.  Data and Support Tools $14,000 Build-out of informational chatbot, clinic scheduling interface, and photo ID tool matching tool to cross-references cats with Petco Love Lost for reunification.  Medical Supplies $4,000 Vaccines, microchips, wound care supplies, post-op recovery kits, and fluids used in TNVRM field clinics.  Administration Fees(5%) $2,500 General admin, permitting, insurance, and emergency buffer to ensure on-time execution by August 15, 2025.      Total Funds Requested $50,000
