Re: Resolution 181-25, Request to defer to next committee meeting
Aloha Chair Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder and members of the Committee,
The Sierra Club of Hawaii, Hawaii Island Group (HIG) requests Resolution 181025 be deferred
to the next Finance Committee meeting for the following reasons.
1. In general, the Resolution and supporting documents are confusing, contain contradictions,
and do not adequate described how the $125,000 in funding will be specifically used.
2. There is no budget or project description, including its size, location, facilities, etc.
3. In addition, the Resolution does not contain sufficient information to determine:
a. whether or not the funds being requested are to be used for feasibility or planning studies
for the possible future project,
b. the funds are to be used for implementing an as -yet undisclosed project plan,
c. " if the funds are to be used to advance the project beyond feasibility or planning studies,
A representative for the project was kind enough to be a guest at HIG's monthly meeting last
night to answer questions and said a presentation would be given to the committee at its meeting
today.
Therefore, HIG urges this committee to defer Resolution 181-25 to its next meeting so that the
general public will have time to examine the information to be given during today's presentation
in order to provide informed testimony at the committee's next meeting.
