SUBJECT: Proposed Amendments to Resolution No. 181-25; A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT
WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI`I OFFICE OF RESEARCH
SERVICES
Transmitted herewith are proposed amendments to Resolution No. 181-25. The amendments are
shown below in Ramseyer format with respect to the content of Resolution No. 181-25; material
to be added is underscored.
1. Resolution No. 181-25 is amended by amending the title to read as follows:
"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT
WITH AND PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI`I OFFICE OF
RESEARCH SERVICES."
2. Resolution No. 181-25 is further amended by adding a WHEREAS clause to be inserted as
the fourth WHEREAS clause and to read as follows:
"WHEREAS, Section 2-139(a)(3)(B) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition
as amended), requires that grant awards in excess of$25,000 to organizations that do not qualify
as nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the purpose for which the funds shall be
used in a resolution; and"

3. Resolution No. 181-25 is further amended by adding a BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED
clause to read as follows:
"BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, in accordance with Section 2-139(a)(3)(B) of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), the Council hereby authorizes the
issuance of a grant to the University of Hawaii, Office of Research Services in the amount of
$125,000."
A copy of the new draft of this resolution that will result if these proposed amendments are
adopted is not attached.
