Council Testimony
Subject:
Bill 47
I would like to express my thoughts once again about how much this bill disturbs me and how I feel those of us with
hosted vacation rentals are going to be potentially affected. It feels to me that Heather Kimball has little care for people
like myself who are relying on this income to pay our ever rising taxes and bills to be able to continue to live in the homes
we bought many years ago. I feel the way this bill is written the rules will be able to be changed at any given time, just
like now she wants the registration to cost 4 times as much as was first said. I would ask WHY are you going after the
"little" guy. It feels like so much of what is happening in this area is all about wanting everyone to stay at a condo or
resort. It sincerely amazes me that there is seemingly no realization that our guests will not COME to Hawaii if there is
not a place for them to stay like what we are providing. It is simple to see who is paying taxes and-1 really do not
understand why you are pushing for this.
On top of all this I feel it just plane wrong to push this through before the survey is COMPLETE. Why was nothing done
after bill 108 to see how many homes became full time rentals. From what I have seen there are VERY FEW but then
maybe the study was not done because someone did not WANT to see the results.
I did not know this meeting was happening tomorrow until a notice from VRBO today Kalia Naia
