A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAI`I WILDFIRE MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE FIRE ASIDE PROGRAM. WHEREAS, Hawaii County currently experiences an elevated risk of wildfires, given our changing environment; and WHEREAS, Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization (HWMO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Waimea; and WHEREAS, Fire Aside is a community wildfire resilience program delivered through a software platform, offering tools such as its Defensible Space Inspection product and personalized risk reports to help residents and agencies take proactive steps in reducing wildfire risks; and WHEREAS, HWMO serves as a hub of wildfire mitigation, prevention, and proactive preparedness; and WHEREAS, HWMO is committed to providing communities with resources, data, and advocacy tools through the purchase of the Fire Aside program; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Hawaii Fire Department is to protect and preserve life, property, and the environment, striving for community safety; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire Department to provide a grant to the Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization to purchase the Fire Aside program BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
