4�NSV Of y 'i <br />COUNTY OF HAWAM STATE OF HAWAFI <br />a <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAI`I <br />WILDFIRE MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE FIRE <br />ASIDE PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii County currently experiences an elevated risk of wildfires, given <br />our changing environment; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization (HWMO) is a 501(c)(3) <br />nonprofit organization based in Waimea; and <br />WHEREAS, Fire Aside is a community wildfire resilience program delivered through a <br />software platform, offering tools such as its Defensible Space Inspection product and <br />personalized risk reports to help residents and agencies take proactive steps in reducing wildfire <br />risks; and <br />WHEREAS, HWMO serves as a hub of wildfire mitigation, prevention, and proactive <br />preparedness; and <br />WHEREAS, HWMO is committed to providing communities with resources, data, and <br />advocacy tools through the purchase of the Fire Aside program; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Hawaii Fire Department is to protect and preserve <br />life, property, and the environment, striving for community safety; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire <br />Department to provide a grant to the Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization to purchase the <br />Fire Aside program <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
