As someone deeply concerned about Hawai`i's endangered wildlife, I cannot support a program that fails to protect our native species from the devastating impacts of feral cats. TNRM is ineffective —population models show it takes decades to reduce feral cat numbers, and only if no new cats are abandoned. Meanwhile, these cats continue to prey on endangered birds like the nene and spread toxoplasmosis, a deadly disease that also threatens monk seals and human health. I've personally witnessed how feeding feral cats attracts them to public spaces, increasing risks to wildlife and even children playing nearby. The majority of Hawaii residents support stronger measures to reduce feral cat populations, yet TNRM persists as an unsustainable solution. Instead of funding failed programs, we need enforceable regulations —like pet abandonment bans and mandatory spay/neuter laws —along with humane removal strategies that actually protect our native species. Hawai`i's unique wildlife is irreplaceable. Please reject Resolution 140-25 and prioritize science -based solutions that safeguard our natural heritage. Mahalo for your commitment to conservation. l ` Cz-) Sincerely, (=.c AJ Descalsota .mac --i 6'J --<.— 4 -K; —0 Comm. No • Ref. To: Ref. Date Y 2 1202!
