My name is Ashley Lee, and I dedicate much of my time to supporting animal rescue efforts
in our community. I am writing in strong support of providing funding to Aloha Animal
Alliance Hawaii to continue their essential spay and neuter services across our
communities.
Spay and neuter programs are one of the most effective, humane, and fiscally responsible
strategies for controllingthe free -roaming and feral cat population in Hawaii. Aloha Animal
Alliance Hawaii has been a dedicated provider of these services, helping to reduce the
number of unwanted litter and prevent the cycle of overpopulation that strains our animal
shelters and impacts community health.
Funding these efforts supports:
Population Control: Targeted spay and neuter reduces the overall number of free -
roaming cats, helping to prevent exponential growth in colonies.
• Healthier Animals: Sterilized cats are less prone to certain diseases and injuries
related to mating behavior.
• Community Stability: Cats that are fixed tend to roam less, fight less, and live more
peacefully among human populations.
Long Term Impact: Overtime, these efforts Lead to more stable, managed colonies,
fewer animal control calls, and less strain on local resources.
Aloha Animal Alliance Hawaii has demonstrated both compassion and efficiency in
carrying out this vital work. Their continued presence and services are essential to the long-
term health and balance of our neighborhoods.
I urge you to vote in favor of Resolution 140-25 and to continue prioritizing compassionate,
proven strategies like spay and neuter services. This represents both a compassionate
commitment to animal welfare and a practical strategy for fostering safer, healthier
communities for people and animals alike.
Mahalo for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Ashley Lee
