Subject: Support Resolution 176-25
-e
Honorable Members of the Council, T
am writing to express my strong support for Resolution 176-25, which seeks to allocate fundto ~
Neighborhood Place of Puna for the development and operation of the Anchor Point Youth Center. This
initiative is vital to our community's efforts to support our youth, especially during these challenging
times.
The Anchor Point Youth Center will serve as a safe, nurturing space where young people can access
essential resources and programs that promote their well-being, education, and personal growth. The
funding proposed in this resolution will directly benefit our youth by providing critical supplies and
services, including:
Food Assistance: The center will offer nutritious meals and snacks, addressing the immediate needs of
our youth. Currently, the food basket program does not have the capacity to include the Anchor Point
program for food pickup, making this funding crucial to ensure our youth do not go hungry.
Gardening Supplies: Engagingyouth in gardening activities, fosters responsibility, environmental
awareness, and life skills. Gardening supplies will enable hands-on learning and connection to the land,
which is particularly meaningful in our community.
Art Supplies: Creative expression is essential for emotional health and development. Art supplies will
allow youth to explore their creativity, build confidence, and process their experiences in a positive way.
Computers and Technology: Access to computers will support homework, skill development, and digital
literacy, preparing ouryouth for future opportunities in an increasingly technology -driven world.
Hygiene Items: Providing hygiene supplies helps maintain the health and dignity of our young people,
especially those facing economic hardships.
Investing in the Anchor Point Youth Center is an investment in our community's future. It will not only
meet immediate needs but also empower our youth to thrive, build resilience, and become positive
contributors to our society.
For these reasons, I respectfully urge the Council to approve Resolution 176-25. Supporting this initiative
demonstrates a commitment to nurturing ouryouth and strengthening our community as a whole.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
C®M,. 0 L
