REPORT OF THE <br />LEGISLATIVE APPROVALS AND ACQUISITIONS COMMITTEE <br />DATE: June 3, 2025 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />Hilo, Hawaii <br />TIME: 9:30 a.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Re: Comm. No. 314/Res. No. 197-25 <br />Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Resolution <br />No. 197-25, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 197-25, transmitted by Deputy Corporation Counsel Sinclair Salas-Ferguson, via <br />Communication No. 314, dated May 15, 2025, accepts the dedication of Roadway Lot 8, <br />identified as Tax Map Key: 3-5-008:009, situated on the northerly side of Hawaii Belt Road on <br />the southerly side of the Old Mamalahoa Highway, at Papa` aloa, North Hilo, Island, County, and <br />State of Hawai`I, from Hamakua Housing Corporation. <br />The landowner seeks to dedicate the roadway and all improvements for public roadway <br />purposes. <br />Committee Chair Heather L. Kimball shared that this roadway dedication to the County would <br />tremendously benefit the Pdpa`aloa residents as it is the only access in and out of the community due <br />to the bridge road being closed for many years.
