Re: Nomination of Abel P. Aquino of Council District 7 to the Game Management Advisory
Commission
Aloha Council Chair Inaba and Council Members,
I am pleased to nominate Mr. Abel P. Aquino of Council District 7 to the Game Management
Advisory Commission.
Mr. Aquino, a lifelong resident of Kona, is known for his energetic engagement in the
community. He has been an active volunteer with the impactful nonprofit, Nakoa Foundation, for
over ten years. As a talented graphic artist and a proud son of West Hawaii, he deeply values
his 'ohana, his community and his island home.
Raised in Kona as a native Hawaiian and an avid fisherman, Mr. Aquino recognizes the
importance of protecting our precious environment while upholding and advancing traditional
gathering rights and cultural respect. He graduated from the Kamehameha Schools Kap5lama
in 2002 and went on to study at Santa Barbara City College and the Art Institute of California.
If confirmed, Mr. Aquino will fill a vacant seat and serve a term that ends on December 31,
