HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0749.064 1998-2000 Date: July 19, 2000 RE: County of Hawaii Resolution Number 246-00 Chairman James Arakaki Hawaii County Council 25 Aupnui St. Hilo, HI 96720 Dear Chairman Arakaki: I am writing to you to show that I am very determined to help support the Hawaii Police Department in anyway possible to help get the grant to help with marijuana eradication enforcement program. I believe very strongly that the program should be continued. Something this important should not be stopped. I come from a community that has to deal with drugs and people growing marijuana in their backyards. It makes me so upset because people think smoking marijuana is cool. We as society need to take a long hard look at what the impact will be about the decisions that we make concerning marijuana. Having the eradication of marijuana helps to put a dent in a situation that I feel has been blown way out of proportion. People think that by legalizing marijuana for medical reasons is the right thing to do. It may have it's plus to it, but there is more bad reason's than good. We as adults need to take a stand on this marijuana issue to help keep it going for our kid's sakes. To show them that smoking marijuana is not cool and bad for their health. I know that people feel that having money being used for eradication of marijuana is a waste of time and money. To me it is not. If I could give the money from my own pocket to fund this program I would. We need to educate everyone on the importance of this grant and keep it going. This issue is very important to me and I will fight as hard as 1 can to keep the money coming to help fund this program. So please say yes to the County of Hawaii Resolution Number 246-00. We need to keep funding the eradication of marijuana. Even if it is legal for medical reasons we need to continue removing marijuana and cracking down on people growing it for their own personal use and not for medical reasons. So please take my letter in consideration and pass the resolution to keep the grant coming. Thank you for your time and understanding. I hope this letter will impact your decision on the resolution asking to be passed by the County of Hawaii Police Officers and the communities that support them. Sincerely, Christine T.
