Subject: 2nd road for Waikoloa
Dear Chair and Members of the Council,
My name is Gayle Larson. I am a homeowner and condo owner in Waikoloa Village since 2016.
1 am testifying in support of Communication 159.41 to amend Bill No. 32, Draft 2.1 fully support this
amendment for funding the initial engineering of Waik6loa's second arterial road.
Waikoloa is a red zone fire community. We urgently need another road out of our one way in and one way
out community. In addition to the 7,000 + residents that currently live here, our village is the fastest
growing community on the Big Island. More residents = more traffic congestion. This isn't simply a
convenience road, this is an essential road. I went through the fire evacuation in 2021, not an experience
I ever want to repeat. Please, put the second road out of our village in this budget. Let's save lives and our
homes by being proactive vs reactive. The County's own 2008 plan called this a 'very high priority' to
prevent the loss of life.
I implore you to vote'yes' on this critical amendment.
