Subject: 2nd road in Waikoloa Village
Aloha,
I live at the very edges of Waikoloa Village. When we had the fire that almost reached the Village, my house would have
been one of the first to Burn!
After receiving word from the alert system to leave our house, due to the danger of being engulfed in flames, we drove
down Waikoloa Road and then north on Queen Ka'ahumanu.
Cars were lined up on the ONE emergency road and at a stand still. Cars were driving so fast in either direction on Queen
Ka'ahumanu, that no one could exit that road.
This could have potentially been a tragedy like Maui! People lined up burning to death in their cars could be our fate!
I support communication 159.41 to amend Bill no.32, Draft 2, which gives funding to complete engineering for the final
design and cost estimate of a 2nd road in the budget. We need this asap.
Before another tragedy occurs, we need the 2nd road! Don't allow people to die because a 2nd exit isn't made available.
It's time to take care of our residents!
