We have been resident owners in Waikoloa for 28 years. Twenty plus years ago my wife, Lisa, and I did volunteer preliminary research and submitted, along with Pete Hoffmann, potential escape routes with maps, graphics and aerial photographs to the board and management of Waikoloa Village. It was several years later that the inadequate extension of Hulu street was completed. When we were evacuated for an approaching wildfire in 2021, we were exposed, along with approximately 200 cars full of people and belongings, for over an hour before reaching Queen Ka'ahumanu highway. If winds had shifted, we, along with everyone else, could have been trapped in the path of the fire. Fortunately, no vehicle stalled or broke down on the one lane, mixed surface road that day. Waikoloa Village desperately needs a second road for everyday and emergency use to serve the growing population. Mahalo, Terry Warner and Lisa Yee CD CD c COMM. Ref. TO: Ref. Date MA , 2202
