Aloha
I am a resident of Waikoloa village for the last 10 years and I am very concerned about wildfire. I am
testifying in support of Communication 159.41 to amend Bill No 32 Draft 2. If uLly support the funding for
another access road to evacuate residents in the event of a wildfire!!
Waikoloa is very vulnerable to fire. We are not properly prepared for evacuation. It is essential that we
get another egress route out of the village. This will no doubt save lives in the event of a fire.
I was here the last time we evacuated due to a fire threatening the village 2021 and it was terrifying. The
evacuation was horrible and slow. It took hours to evacuate! It was so very frightening! I live at the North
end of the village and I feel like we are in the most danger of dying in a fire due to being the furthest away
from an evacuation road. I fear we are the next disaster waiting to happen like happened in Lahaina.
Please support the funding for the road design to prevent any further delay in an evacuation road for the
safety of our residents. Ayes vote will no doubt save lives!!
