Re: Proposed Amendments to Resolution No. 185-25; a Resolution Authorizing the
Continued Employment of Leong Kunihiro Brooke & Kim, as Special Counsel to
Represent the County of Hawaii, Department of Human Resources, Workers'
Compensation Division.
Please see below two proposed amendments to Resolution No. 185-25. The proposed
amendments are illustrated below in Ramseyer format with respect to the contents of Resolution
No. 185-25; material to be deleted is bracketed and stricken, and material to be added is
underscored. Due to the limited scope of this amendment, a copy of the new draft of this
resolution that would result if these proposed amendments were adopted is not attached.
Adds a new WHEREAS clause after the fourth WHEREAS clause to read as follows:
"WHEREAS on June 5 2024 the County Council approved an additional Three
Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300 000 00) for legal services rendered by Special Counsel;
and"
2. The enacting clause is amended to read as follows:
"BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
1. Pursuant to County Charter, Section 6-5.5, Special Counsel, the County Council
authorizes the continued retention of Special Counsel to represent the County;
and
2. The funds for the Special Counsel shall not exceed [] Seven Hundred
Twenty Thousand Dollars [($420;000:00):] ($720,000.00j"
