Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Communication No. 349, reports as follows:
Communication No. 349, transmitted by Mayor C. Kimo Alameda, dated May 29, 2025,
requests the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Taylor Spurgeon to the
Ka`u Community Development Plan Action Committee.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Micah Alameda was present in the Kona Chambers to
introduce Mr. Spurgeon, who was also present via remote technology, to the Committee.
Michelle Galimba asked Mr. Spurgeon if he had attended any recent meetings of the Ka`u
Community Development Plan Action Committee. He said that yes, he had been at the last one
and believes that he will have a positive impact on the Committee. He corrected the record that
he was from San Diego, California, not Texas, and that he had been a supervisor of the road
department there in their Department of Public Works for 20 years.
Pursuant to Chapter 16, Article 3, Section 16-5(a) of the Hawaii County Code, members of the
Ka`u Community Development Plan Action Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor and
confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the
purpose and intent of Communication No. 349, and recommends confirmation of the
appointment of Taylor Spurgeon to the Ka`u Community Development Plan Action Committee.
