Council Testimony
Subject:
Concerns about Bill 47
Aloha Hawaii county,
I am very concerned that the issues that have repeatedly been raised concerning Bill 47, and seem to
have been ignored so far by the council. I don't understand why this is being rushed through so quickly.
I respectfully ask that you please slow down and take the time to address the concerns about this bill. I
also ask that you please pause the progression of the bill until the results of the economic impact study
have been released.
While I trust that your intentions of Bill 47 are not nefarious, the way that this bill is currently written
provides no protection to property owners of hefty penalties in the future, that could essentially put many
people out of business. There need to be more safeguards written into the bill if it truly will only be used
for registration purposes only. Additionally, the hefty registration fee being proposed would be
burdensome for numerous homeowners who are already struggling to make ends meet with the current
decrease in tourism.
Mahalo for your time and attention to this matter.
