Re: Nomination of Bernadette C. K. Urban -Smith of Council District 7 to the Police
Commission.

I am pleased to nominate Ms. Bernadette C.K. Urban -Smith, of Council District 7, to the Police
Commission. Ms. Urban -Smith is a lifelong resident of Kailua-Kona, deeply rooted in our
community.
With her work experience as the Restaurant Manager at Tante's Local Grinds, in the County of
Hawaii Elderly Activities Division, and the Kona Clean Team, Ms. Urban -Smith has
demonstrated her commitment to serving others. Additionally, she actively supports her family
businesses and is a dedicated volunteer with local veterans' affairs, the Big Island Junior Golf
Program, the Elks Lodge No. 2616, and with the Tante & Araceli Urban Foundation.
Ms. Urban -Smith is excited to leverage her local values and community networks to strengthen
the Police Commission and enhance the effectiveness of the Police Department.
If confirmed, Ms. Urban -Smith's term will end on December 31, 2029. If you have any questions,
