�;• `vf �rr <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAPI STATE OF HAWAPI <br /> TE 4f M►� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. a <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO <br /> INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAPI AT <br /> HILO TO SUPPORT THEIR CONTINUED COOPERATION WITH THE HAWAPI <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE FURTHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAPI POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICERS. <br /> WHEREAS,Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 46-7 requires the County to obtain <br /> consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting <br /> action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive <br /> any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to <br /> those powers; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Hawaii Police Department("HPD") desires the ability to enter into an <br /> updated Memorandum of Understanding (attached hereto as Exhibit"A")with the University of <br /> Hawaii at Hilo for the benefit of Hawaii County HPD officers to facilitate the successful <br /> admission and enrollment of HPD officers as students in the Bachelors of Arts Administration <br /> of Justice Program at UH Hilo, with the goal of providing continued professional development <br /> for HPD police officers; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that in <br /> accordance with Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 46-7,the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is <br /> authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an intergovernmental agreement with both State <br /> and Federal partners for the purpose of serving and protecting the County of Hawaii. <br />
