Subject: Testimony in Opposition to proposed Bill 060, relating to zoning district regulations for
meeting facilities, churches, temples, synagogues, and community buildings.
I am writing in opposition to the proposed Bill 060 that would prohibit churches from gathering before
8:00 am and after 9:00 pm. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We
have Seminary classes early morning before 8 am, and before the children go to school. If this rule
passes, that's going to mess up a lot of family schedules and the loss of our children's religion
classes. The strength of our church is in our belief that families are forever. Therefore, we believe
that to protect the family unit, we teach our families respect for God and Jesus Christ, through their
learning and understanding what is taught in the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, family scripture
study, family prayers, monthly youth activities, service projects in our communities, our sacred
temples where we acknowledge the existence of our ancestors who came before us, etc. This
ensures our families safety from the onslaught of all that is tormenting our world, our youth, our
people.
I respectfully ask that you consider the impact of what this bill, if passed, could do to the family unit. I
want to keep my family safe and secure. Early morning Seminary is one way we do that.
