Committee on Planning, Land Use, and Economic
Development
In Reference to Bill 60 Amending Chapter 25, Articles 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7
of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition), as amended) Relating
to Zoning District Regulations for Meeting Facilities, Churches,
Temples, Synagogues, and Community Buildings.
am submitting my testimony in opposition. I specifically refer to
Section 8. d) The hours of operation for meeting facilities shall
start no earlier than 8: 00 am
and end no later than 9: 00 pm.
These restrictions will severely impact churches and community
organizations who hold activities that go beyond those
timelines. These are the organizations, who invest much time and
effort to people of all ages with various needs and attention. We hold
early morning activities so that those who work are able to
participate. We cater to elderly who have various needs, not limited
to the confines of their homes. We hold all nighters, fun -type
activities in safe, supervised environments, where our youth can
participate in fun and learning activities.
Please reconsider these restrictions and do not pass Bill 60. Thank
