My name is Len Nakano and I am opposed to the removal of the verbiage stating "The
director shall be a registered professional engineer".
The engineering title is one that shows the dedication and drive that the particular
individual has for that profession. It carries with it a sense of responsibility and pride.that
the professional engineer holds near their heart. Having this requirement will also bring a
better sense of leadership to the people of Hawaii Island when decision is made
(favorable or not) to the people.
Please consider NOT removing this verbiage from the requirement.
