A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF
KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE 39th ANNUAL HAWAIʻI KUPUNA HULA FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc., (LCKCFI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service projects and activities
that meet the needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, is coordinating with LCKCFI to host the 39th Annual Hawaiʻi Kupuna Hula Festival, which honors and perpetuates
the art of hula through our treasured kūpuna; and
WHEREAS, hundreds of hula dancers will be participating in the 39th Annual Hawaiʻi Kupuna Hula Festival, which will be held on September 10-11, 2025, at the Outrigger Kona Resort and
Spa; and
WHEREAS, LCKCFI is requesting funds to cover lighting equipment rental expenses for the 39th Annual Hawaiʻi Kupuna Hula Festival, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving,
or promoting the interests of culture and the arts; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaiʻi County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief
funds from Council District 9 are hereby transferred to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc., for the expenses
and purposes identified in “Exhibit A,” a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
