Re: Capital Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance to appropriate $1,300,000 of federal funds
for the Honomu/Mamalahoa Bridge Replacement project. An existing concrete
bridge that is structurally and functionally deficient will be replaced with a
concrete bridge that meets current standards.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Department of
Public Works.

A. REQUEST:
Request funds in the amount of $1,300,000 for Honomu/Mamalahoa Bridue
Replacement. This is the total Federal share for this project and will
be entirely reimbursable. An allotment for the County share of the
project has been requested.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The project proposes to replace an existing concrete bridge that is
structurally and functionally deficient with a new concrete bridge that
meets current standards.
Construction plans are nearing completion, and construction is planned
for this fall.
Attached is a copy of the STIP showing that Federal funds are planned
for this project. The funds can be programmed once plans are complete.
