HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 248 Draft 01 2024-2026 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NORTH KOHALA COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE KOHALA CARES PROJECT. WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase the number of successful community projects that benefit North Kohala through education, training, and bridges to funding, and has currently supported over 75 community projects; and WHEREAS, Kohala Cares is a project of the North Kohala Community Resource Center designed to provide the most vulnerable households in North Kohala with food and care support through the purchase and distribution of groceries; and WHEREAS, the project aims to distribute a minimum of 150 grocery bags weekly to food-insecure individuals in North Kohala while also hosting a monthly community meal at St. Augustine’s Church; and WHEREAS, North Kohala Community Resource Center is requesting funds for the purchase of food and groceries, as well as administrative services, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests and needs of the poor, youth, the aged, and those with physical or emotional disabilities; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaiʻi County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 are hereby transferred to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the North Kohala Community Resource Center for the expenses and purposes identified in “Exhibit A,” a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General       AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION:  $5,000       OUT AND FROM:    010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC – Contingency Relief $5,000      CREDITED TO:    010.161.5161.22 Department of Research and Development $5,000   Agriculture R&D OCE    115 Misc.
