This island needs to turn to sustadDabi We need to farm more! Not turn most of the "important Agriculture" land to "Natural" and they have no real definition of what "Natural" means in their General Plan. I have attached the exact letter that Hawai'i Planning sent me, as I requested to be shown a letter regarding the long-range designation plan for private land changes. It is NOT legal for them to change private land to conservation land when conservation land is supposed to be voluntary by the landowner. The state manages conservation land, so changing private lands to conservation lands is working towards taking people's property away through the back door of the General Plan. Please stand and OPPOSE these General Plan Land Use changes because they are illegal and wrong! We need more agricultural land NOT less. We need to become a more sustainable island rather than continuing to rely solely on ships that bring in everything, including our food. Changing so much Agricultural land to Natural is NOT becoming more sustainable. It's becoming less, and it's allowing the state to have more control over the island through the long-range designation plan of the 2045 General Plan. Also, changing private Agricultural land to Recreation is working towards taking private land away from the owner through their long-range designation plan, and this is NOT okay.
