Page 11 COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. 25G 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI`I HI -DIVING FRIENDS FOR A NEW THREE -METER DIVING STAND AND BOARD FOR THE CHARLES "SPARKY" KAWAMOTO SWIM STADIUM. WHEREAS, Hawaii HI -Diving Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, whose mission is dedicated to the sport of platform and springboard diving; and WHEREAS, Hawaii HI -Diving Friends is requesting funds for a new three -meter diving stand and board for the Charles "Sparky" Kawamoto Swim Stadium, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting educational concerns and the public health and welfare of people; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAFI that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 are hereby transferred to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hawaii HI -Diving Friends for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $6,000 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk -Council SVC — Contingency Relief $6,000 CREDITED TO: 010.500.5503.02 Department of Parks and Recreation $6,000 P&R Admin OCE 115 Misc. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project Purchase and install a 3-methr diving stand and board. The original two 3-meter stands and boards were removed decades ago. By installing a 3-meter diving stand and board, this will allow Hawaii County High School divers to have the same training and advantages of those on Oahu and allow these high school students to put this experience on their college applications, allowing them to be more competitive. And this will also allow the University of Hawaii Hilo to consider having a collegiate division three dive team, which requires 3-meter diving experience. *46.501(c)(3) Mission Statement Dedicated to the sport of platform and springboard diving in the state of Hawaii *47. Hawaii Hi -Diving Friends has been Instrumental in collaborating with Parks and Recreation over the last 7 years to restore the diving facilities at the Kawamoto pool, including repairing the one remaining one -meter dive stand, installing a new one -meter dive stand, and replacing the decrepit dive tower staircase, which was a public health hazard, with a new staircase, thereby re -opening flower diving for the first time in over a decade. *48.
